New Domain Name to Come Soon! Opinions Needed!

I decided to plunk down about $14 into our donation pool to give us 1000 more credits to spend on the site's functionality. We're at 1655 credits now, which is officially enough to give us our own unique domain name for a year!

I'm not going to change much, really. http://www.hungrypokemon.net/ , our current address, is kind of long; the 'omgforum' part was required to be put into the address when I first made the site, being one of a few choices. With our collected donations, I was just going to cut that out and give us the domain name of http://www.hungrypokemon.net/ (I checked; it's available!)

http://hungrypokemonforums.net/ was also a consideration for a while, but honestly I feel it's a bit unnecessary. After all, most people link to the extension /forum.htm, meaning most would read the link as http://hungrypokemonforums.net/forum.htm ...which is a little repetitive. Also, the HPF is more than just a forum, so I feel labeling it as a forum in the address is a bit misleading (especially once I get our gallery running again!). Still, it's also an option.

Shorter is usually better when it comes to having a domain name; it's more memorable, easier to type, and generally is more effective at attracting attention as it looks more refined and polished (compared to a lot of free sites especially).

Lastly, we also have our choice of .net, .com, .org, and .biz. I'm going to stick with .net since that's what we've been using so far, unless anyone has any better suggestions. =3~

But, I wanted to check with you guys and collect some opinions about this before I went through with it. Give me a vote on the poll obtained here, and let me know your feelings about my decision. Thanks!

I personally think it's more trouble than it's worth. But I'm probably the only one who thinks that.

@foxy - Well, it's not much trouble at all! =3 The address of origin - that is, http://www.hungrypokemon.net/ , won't be lost. Entering this old address after we have changed domain names will simply forward you to the proper, new domain name. Therefore, people can choose not to update their links to the forum if they don't want to, though it's recommended for simplicity.

although com is more used, I prefer net.
as for the name, no forum. its less to type and slightly less confusing. (when I checked the site on other computers, I sometimes typed 'forums' instead of 'forum'...I ended up using google... >.>)

.net is preferred by me also...since we've already been using it, and also because it just sounds better IMO.

Ah, and a good point about the word 'forums'. I also have trouble figuring out proper plural/singular (as some forums actually use 'forum' at times).

From where the voting and my own opinion stands, it looks like http://www.hungrypokemon.net will be our new address. =3 Watch for an official announcement tomorrow.
