WII GAME OF THE WEEK: Call of Duty: Modern warfare Reflex
genre: FPS
Wii Sketch:

This game was suggested by a good friend of mine, a very sweet and fatty Kirby named Mel :3 At the beginning I didn’t know if to get it, since, as most of you know this is the port of the first modern warfare on wii, with toned down graphics and enhanced controls.
This port surprised me. It really did and now I’ll explain you in detail why:
On the visual standpoint the wii could do a lot better. This doesn’t mean that the graphic aspect should be trashed entirely. The levels accurately follow their HD counterparts, giving quite the variety to the areas, the weapons are well made and the only thing I’d have to point out is the lack of nice textures and the models of the humans, not really the best I’ve seen. Not that you’ll notice that while shooting around though.
A port haves to sacrifice something depending the console it’s moved on afterall, I just wish developers would work a bit more on this, just to please the pickier gamers (since I’m not picky X3).
The gameplay is where most of the strong points of this game lay. The mapping of the controls is very well done. Nothing particular to say about how the game works. It’s your usual FPS. Aim, shoot, change weapon, launch a grenade, run…the controls are quite intuitive, but the game will give you useful advices during the levels, so that you won’t get stuck on certain things.
The campaign mode will give you a variety of different levels. The game keeps giving you different kinds of missions, so things never get boring, even if a couple of missions could be frustrating if you aren’t used to frenetic FPS experiences. Nothing you can’t overcome though. The level of challenge is just
right and a perfect training for the online mode.
The action is frenetic and the controls work just right, once again proving me how an FPS can work perfectly on the wii, no matter if it’s a mere porting or an original game. I also like how the game made me feel as if I was just one of the many soldiers there, following the others, ducking and shooting at the enemies. The variety of the levels and situations will keep you interested, probably even
more for the story itself.
To conclude the gameplay part: controls respond very well, the action is well-implemented, challenge is nice and the levels are various enough.
The story isn’t as deep as one would think, it’s merely something to make the campaign mode go on, but not something I feel complaining about, since it had its very nice moments and the ending is certainly something that made me go like “oh yeah!” but I won’t spoil you anything. In the end, the story is there, but it won’t bother you or anything X3 just keep in mind that you won’t find any
super-deep plot in this game, just a lot of action.
The soundtrack is one something would expect from a game like this…no special mention here, except for the well-implemented sound effects that make you feel like on a real battlefield. Well-done.
The game itself isn’t too long, the campaign mode will keep you busy for a few hours and, like I mentioned before, it’s merely a training for the online mode, where the real game awaits. There are a lot of modes to use and I really appreciated the experience and ranking system the game offers you, something that will probably make FPS lovers get better and better with each play.
The lack of a voice chat is something that surprised me though, since I thought The Conduit should have at least proved to people that the wii speak works well. Missed chance there, but nothing you can’t fix with good old skype. (I’ve always preferred
chatting with friends rather than with strangers in a game anyways)
To end the review, CoD: Modern warfare Reflex is a well-implemented port and something that I recommend to the people who got just a wii and is looking for another nice FPS or who people who prefers motion controls over joypad controls and
high graphics.
It certainly isn’t a port that I recommend to the ones who plan to pick up the original version or who already have it, since the port doesn’t really add
anything more than the motion controls, wich work really well though.
Here are a few screens:

bigfoot knows how to use guns :3

one example of how visuals shouldn't look. During the game it won't bother you too much, but still...

ratatatatatatatatatatatatatata!! :3

with my fear of heights there's no way I'd do something like this! X3
