HPF Usermap
I'll just post what Charem mentioned verbatim because I'm lazy.
Check it out!
: To add to the above, I must also make an important note: You must be signed into a Google user account to make edits; otherwise, the Edit button will not appear. Take note of this! =P
Check it out!Charem wrote:I just messed around with Google Maps and have managed to create our very own HPF Usermap! Yep...you guys asked and I delivered. It's publically editable by you guys and can be viewed here!
By default, you're looking at a normal map, and clicking the Placemarks there will give you a username and a profile link. Click the 'Edit' button above the description to enter into the editing mode.
The instructions for how the mapping works is all contained in the description...so anyone who wishes to help, please add yourself and other users onto this map! Please remember to title each Placemark as the user's username, and to put a link to their HPF profile in the Description. I'm currently using the "Who Is Online?" list, and placing users on that, onto our new map.

Re: HPF Usermap
You must sign into Google before you can edit the map. =3 Please get an account with them if you haven't already, and you'll easily see an 'Edit' button on the page after signing in. Sorry for the inaccuracy; since this is a publicly-editable map, there will be mistakes like this sometimes...but, you can go ahead and move your marker using the hand tool to the proper place, very easily. ^^

Re: HPF Usermap
I hope you don't mind if I only mark a general area where I live. Googlemaps scares me.
Incidentally, that seviper's going to have some major heartburn when that voltorb wakes up.

You guys don't have to pinpoint exactly where you live. XD General area is just fine.

Re: HPF Usermap
A question. Is the usermap visable to non-members?
It's 'cos I trust you guys, but not just random people who stumble upon the site, and if it can't be seen by non-members I could mark it more accurately.
I blame OCD.
EDIT: Good enough for me.

Re: HPF Usermap
It actually can be seen by non-members, but this thread is hidden to Guests and the link should not be posted outside of the HPF. So technically only members will be able to visit the link.

Re: HPF Usermap
Hmm, after signing out I noticed through the scrolling news thing there was a link to this page in it(even while not being logged in it still runs by), so I decided to click it. I was actually able to get to this page without being logged in, and in here contains the link to that map, which I was also able to get to without having to be logged in. Turns out this thread isn't exactly hidden with a link directing straight to it. Just thought I'd let everyone know.
Edit: Actually, I was able to click the topic straight from the home page navigation as well and it let me in here.

Re: HPF Usermap
The first thing you described is a Recent History link, which is fine. Secondly, indeed, the Usermap is available above too. That Usermap button is not viewable to non-members however.
This map is technically public to anyone who can get the link, but I've paid special attention so that only HPF users will receive the link.

Re: HPF Usermap
Are you completely sure? To double check, I tested through IE, which I've never gone into this site with, and it also allowed me into this thread to get to the link to the map.
Honestly, I'm not concerned since all the locations on the map are too general for anyone to really follow, plus I can't really see anyone trying to stalk anyone, especially if they don't know who they're really stalking. I just want to help make sure everything's working as it should. =3
Edit: Ah, sorry, misunderstood what you said there. ^^;

Re: HPF Usermap
Sadly, yes, that's right; anybody could visit that link. I said that already, as you pointed out. But I've only publicized the link on this website...that is to say, people who are not part of the HPF will likely not see the links. It's not gonna be publicized out-of-site, and I hope our users don't publicize the link elsewhere either.

Re: HPF Usermap
Just a mistake. Publicly-accessible things like this tend to have errors, but they're easy enough to correct, as you did.
