Forum And Word Problems (Please Help)
Okay, here's the thing. A while ago, I was part of a website that I enjoyed (it involved Klonoa). However, the two admins there were horribly corrupt, evil, rude, selfish and downright stupid. They hurt a lot of people, and I kept fighting with them to knock it off, so they finally banned me. I was very angered by it, since I loved the place. You see, for me, I can tolerate people if I love the place enough; it's just like school, in a way. Anyway, to get revenge on them, I made my own similar website to teach those punks a lesson, and to show them how a REAL admin acts: with kindness, dignity, respect, love and understanding towards the members.
About a week ago, my forum's chat box stopped working...for ME. Everyone else says that it works just fine for them; even Rain from on here said that it worked just fine! Regardless, I can't get it to work for me; I've logged on and off my account on there, removed and put back the chat box, and even exited the site over and over again. Nothing works; it just shows up as a big, white box that I cannot do a thing to. To top it off, you know in these messages where those buttons are that allows you to bold things, italicize things, insert links for pictures and stuff? Well, once again, my own forum won't let me do them anymore! Sure, I can post messages, but not any of those buttons! What the heck?
Also, while it doesn't concern any of you or this site or even my site, I've been getting some very weird Word documents. They look like faded documents of other documents that I already have, but the first letters or numbers are weird symbols; here's an example of what one of these documents says: ~$maleSpy Scores.doc (in front of it, the usual Word Document symbol is very, very faded)
Does anyone know how I can fix this nonsense? I have a fear that it might've come about when I deleted some folders earlier. You see, I couldn't get into my MSN account, so I looked up advice (I didn't want to bother you guys with my own trivial problems). Some instructions told me to go into some place on my computer I never heard about, and delete some email addresses that were giving me problems. Er, well, I went there...and instead found some very, very weird folders with extra-long names with numbers and symbols. I had no idea what they were, so I just deleted all but one of them. I would later find out that it had nothing to do with my MSN; I just had to activate something called .net messenger or something like that.
But, that's the whole story. If you were still reading this far down this, then can you please help me? I have no idea what to do or what I did wrong. I tried looking up on the internet for help, but it just gives crap that I don't understand; you guys are my only hope. I know this doesn't really concern THIS site, but...please, will you help?

Re: Forum And Word Problems (Please Help)
By any chance do the faded word files share the name of other word files in the folder, but have random symbols at the start and/or end? If so, it's most likely temporary files of some sort, but if you're unsure or just want to make sure you're malware free, just search with MalwareBytes Antimalware. It's brilliant.
Unfortunately I can't help with the chatbox problems on your site with as much info as I have now. What browser do you use, do you have any addons, what operating system, what java/flash versions you have... I'd need to know things like that.

Re: Forum And Word Problems (Please Help)
Yeah, they do share the names of other Word files; there's almost always an exact replica of a real Word document, but just with those stupid symbols. And, sure, I can search that thing; I just want those gone. I think I had them once before, and they went away in awhile, but I can't remember how.
Uh...fine, whatever you want. My "host" internet source is AOL, because I'm forced to log on with it to get internet. However, I hate the piece of crap, so I use Firefox as my primary browser. Er...I don't really know what Java/Flash versions I have, or really what add-ons; I don't pay much attention to them. I always end up downloading the newest version anyway. Besides, why would it just affect my own site, but not this one?

Re: Forum And Word Problems (Please Help)
The faded word files are definitely just temp files. They're harmless, and you should be able to delete them no problem.
I'm unable to help with the chatbox problem, unfortunately.
Question about the folders you deleted: Were they in a folder with "temp" in its name?

Re: Forum And Word Problems (Please Help)
Sounds like a virus to me, for all of your issues. I'm not sure why you would have trouble on your forum but not here, but perhaps it has to do with permissions. (User access is different from administrator access, of course.)
I would suggest you give your hard drive some scrubbing. There are two programs in particular (both being free) that I suggest you download, install, and run.
Firstly is AVG Free Edition (http://free.avg.com/us-en/download-free-antivirus). This sucker takes up quite a bit of ram when it's running, but I can say it uses it well. This thing has saved previous computers I've been on from disastrous viruses. Word of advice: uninstall it after you're done fixing your problems. It likes to run background processes at all times that can take up surprising amounts of ram. This annoyance is removed if the program is uninstalled fortunately.
Secondly is Spybot Search and Destroy (http://www.safer-networking.org/en/mirrors/index.html). This thing is really useful, I have it on my computer at all times and semi-frequently run system scans with it. It's mostly set up to handle Spyware and Adware (and is very efficient at deleting such), but it can handle a surprisingly large number of viruses as well.
I suggest that you try out both programs. Running a full system scan with both should fix your issue with any luck. =3 Remember to restart your computer after the scans too.
