Sneak Peek To New Pokemon Games!
http://archives.bulbagarden.net/media/upload/7/78/Corocoro7.jpg
CoroCoro scans have literally just been released! For the very first time, I'm actually considering taking the GRASS starter! I know, that's blasphemy (for a fire-starer lover like me), but...it's SO hot and cute and much sexier than the other two. The fire-type is cute, but...seriously, that water type looks REALLY stupid; almost like a worse Piplup! The girl trainer's hairdo is a complete bust, in my eyes, and it's seemingly going to be called the Isshu region. Yeah, I think we're all going to have some ISSUES with that! As for the new region itself...it looks HUGE! Seriously, look at the skyscrapers! If you guys find anymore, please tell me; after all, for Poke geeks like us, we must stay updated!
*starts having naughty thoughts about the cute grass starter*

Cool, I've been looking for this. I think I'll go with the fire piggy. but I might choose the grass starter, depending on how they look when they evolve. But yeah, the water otter does look stupid.

I don't think it can be better than the 4th gen, however I like the 5th gen more now than I did a month after I learned of the 4th gen (but then Floatzel was shown and I cried happy tears).
I like the grass type one, it looks kinda like a smug flygon.
The fire type looks funny and may have quite a bit of potential.
The water type one looks like frosty the snowman.

The Grass type is a hybrid between cindaquil and Treeko, I swear... that or cinda and flygon, as stated above.
Nice that they made slightly older trainers now though, I heard they are 5 years older then the previous ones, making people of higher age relate more. Girl looks like she fought a lawnmower though.
All in all, still can't wait for it. Looks impressive by screenshots alone.
More like the 'Issue' Region, right?
Touche, Agreed.

the grass type looks awesome... looks like a bird...will it be a flying type later?
the fire pig is ok...looks pretty cute!
ugh...what the hell is that white and blue... thing? it looks like if they took a buizel, removed the cuteness, dumped it in a slushy machine, and glued teddy bear eyes on it! D:
the male trainer looks pretty badass...the female is ok...maybe if she didn't have such a huge do...and I thought the new jhoto girl's hair has huge.
is it me, or is the new region gonna be besides jhoto? o.o

Once again, their fire starter's design fails to impress me. I think they started putting the hate on fire types after Torchic. Dx
Out of all of them, the Grass type looks the most smexy, but my tradition is to always start with the fire type, so that freakin' pig's evolution better look impressive!

I wish that the creators of these games let the GAMER make their trainer though...I mean heck they would probs get more ppl hooked on the games that way...the SS HG girl trainer sucks so hard visually...least to me...

Ok, acording to Serebii,
The grass starter is Tsutaja the Grass snake pokemon,
The Fire starter is Pokabu the fire pig pokemon, and
The Water starter is Mijumaru the sea otter pokemon.

Are those the Japanese names or the American ones?
Don't think they would be, since they are yet to release it, let alone translate it yet...

Nyah~ I love all the starters~ The green one looks real classy, and I love classy lookin stuff. The pig one... is a pig, and I love how it looks like a little bandit. And Shadow? How the heck did you think that the water one was a panda? Its holding a sea-shell and has a very otter-ish tail o.o
To some of the above comments... you cant customize your trainer. With fully 3D enviornments like that, they cant have much room left in the game. Its part of why I think the partner system from HG/SS was taken out.
I like the otter, cause most starters look real badass in their final form. The only starter I ever really hated was Bayleef.
Im so gonna start the game three times over to nab myself all of the starters l3

Those are the Japanese names. And plus, Zoroark appearently has a cheap-ass ability.

What's wrong with you? Why does everyone keep thinking that Chimchar wasn't cute? In my opinion, they started putting the hate on WATER and GRASS types, not fire! There's not one fire-type starter that I didn't enjoy; they're ALL cute! So, you be nice!
I have that same tradition, but here's the dilemma. The grass-type is obviously sexier and cooler, yet fire-type is (in my opinion) always the best way to start. So, do you break tradition and pick the obviously-cuter grass-type? Or, do you stay with tradition, take the fire-type, but it's not exactly the one that's easy on the eyes? Tough call, huh? Thankfully, we have almost a year to think about it before these games come out.

Re: Sneak Peek To New Pokemon Games!
Seems pretty straight forward to me.
The fire type is a pig, so it's the fire-pig. A better nickname will arise when its final forms are revealed, just like Chimchar had flaming butt monkey, and Blaziken has super battle chicken.
The water type is a sea otter with a pure white face. It looks like a mime to me, so it's the mime-otter.
The grass one just looks like the tail end of a milotec with arms.

Personally, I thought the water-type was a polar bear at first glance, but otter is just as good =3. I pretty much always start with the water type for my tradition, with one exception in HG

Re: Sneak Peek To New Pokemon Games!
I dunno about everyone else, but I think it's more of a 'getting used to it' sort of thing. Honestly, when I first got into -any- generation, my first thought was always like "Wow, these new starters are dumb. I want ~INSERT WHATEVER I USED LAST GEN~ instead."
Personally, I'm more worried about legendaries; 1st gen introduced five, 2nd introduced six more, 3rd introduced ten, if I remember right, and 4th introduced... at least 14. Now, if there's gonna be 18 or so new ones this gen, they're insane; and they'd better have some seriously good ideas, and stay WELL away from the Psychic, Flying and Dragon types; there's enough legendaries for those types.
Granted, I don't really want new legendaries, anyway... I don't see how they can scrape up too many more of the things. If they've got some seriously good ideas, then more power to 'em... I just doubt they do. Besides, we don't need -more- godmod fodder around here. I feel really, really lucky that no one seems to RP as Dialga or Palkia or Arceus; at least usually. Given how some people act, the ability to freeze time and warp dimensions as a little bit much to have on something 'popular.' Heck, people can make Teleport, one of the most useless moves in the game, completely overpowered when used in-character.
Kind of went off on a tangent, I guess, but... as a gamer, I don't mind the new starters, at least as of yet. As a gamer, I just hope they make less legendaries, go out on a limb and try making some things that aren't Bug/Flying type, maybe some non-legendary dragons that aren't half Flying or Ground. Try some interesting combinations; Bug/Fire, Dragon/Bug. Yanmega should've totally been Dragon/Bug, but I guess that'd kinda make it overpowered when you consider that Tinted Lens ability. Fire/Water, Dark/Dragon. I can't think of a way for a Dark/Dragon type not to look freaking awesome. It'd probably be a legendary though, so... mixed feelings. And, as a roleplayer, I just hope they don't make too much that lends itself to being godmod fodder.

Re: Sneak Peek To New Pokemon Games!
I couldn't agree with you more, Silver. Most everything you said was pretty accurate. However, I really don't care how many legendaries there are. Sure, it might seem like overkill, but so what? It's Pokemon, we like it, we love it, we play it, we accept it. So, I'll accept whatever is coming out. I mean, do you see me crying that Meowth isn't in every region like Pikachu is, even though Meowth is just as popular as a Pokemon mascot as the mouse? No, you don't (at least, not when I let you see me). So, stop crying and just accept things; what, if there's too many legendaries or not enough cool type combinations or the starters' evolved forms aren't good enough for you...you're not going to buy the games or play them? Yeah, I highly doubt that.
Yes, we all have things that we grow weary of and get annoyed about (like never really getting a chance to capture legendaries unless you use cheats, like I do), but just accept them and love the games. I'm just happy that the series lives on; would you guys HONESTLY want the series to end, just because there's too many Pokemon and the starters aren't good enough in your eyes? If you said yes to that, then grow up and start liking something else, like maybe stupid Halo or something.
I'm sorry if I'm sounding angry and mean, but I can't help it; I'm sick and tired of people bashing the games. What are you all, critics or something? Seriously, just stop it! Take me for example. My main loves are Pokemon and Sonic. Do you see me crying, whining, complaining, boycotting or yelling about the games not being to my liking or the shows not being good? No, you don't! I hate people who say things like, "Sonic Underground, Sonic X, Sonic SAT AM, and The Adventures Of Sonic The Hedgehog all sucked horribly" or "Pokemon is just going downhill with all the legendaries and horrible-looking starters" or "The Pokemon Anime is such a pathetic piece of work" or "All the Sonic and Pokemon games suck) or so on. JUST STOP IT RIGHT NOW! Pay attention to this:
If you are a fan of something, you DO NOT stop liking, hate, or criticize it! You just say "well, it's not what I was hoping for, but it's still cool! I'm a fan, so I'll always stick by my favorite things, no matter what!"
That's what real fans do. I have never bashed a Sonic game or TV show or a Pokemon game or TV show, and I never will. Please, just accept things the way they are and deal with them. Who cares about all the legendaries? Who cares about the starters' looks? Who cares about repetition or 3D nonsense? I, personally, do not care, and when these games come out, I will love them and play them accordingly. Sure, I might not like all the Pokemon (let's face it; we all have our likes and dislikes of certain Pokemon, like with how I don't like Jynx or Persian), but I still accept them into the fandom and will always be a fan. Please think about that. Everyone is entitled to their own opinions, naturally, but that's no excuse for ripping and dissing things that you're supposed to love!

Re: Sneak Peek To New Pokemon Games!
josh does have a point, but then you begin to ask yourself, "is it really a good idea to be a pure fan of this?" take Nintendo's home consoles for example: ever since I got my NES I've been a Nintendo fan. I've owned all consoles in my life and I enjoyed them all. then the Wii arrives and nintendo starts to bash us with family games and failed experiments. where are all the good games? the mascots we know and love? they've announced Pikmin like 2 year ago and it hasn't been mentioned again. F-Zero and Star Fox are nowhere to be seen... kirby has disappeared since the gamecube era! it almost seems like every once in a leap year we get one or two good games, and the majority are from Nintendo... and then the XBox and the Play get exclusives for only their consoles. why do they get Street Fighter 4 and we don't? the home version of the series started on a Nintendo console! sure, we got Tatsu vs Capcom, but its not the same...
as gamers, we pretty much have the right to criticize games. without it, game makes would not get feedback and therefore the future games would not evolve. take brawl for example... the majority who played melee said the game was amazing. there wasn't much complaints about it. so, a few years later, we get brawl! and overall to be honest, it turned out, well average... too average. I'm actually being rather nice... because of brawl's averageness, the smash community has split into 3 groups: the fans who sticked to brawl's averageness, the melee players who preferred technicality and wavedashing, and the hackers who have decided to edit brawl to the game that the gamers were expecting to receive (or do lulzy stuff). so what happened there? not much criticism to the previous game...
in the end, although it sounds bad, negative criticism is good. If there wasn't criticism, we'd still be playing pong on the atari because it's perfect.
so, Nintendo should listen to our criticism! they'd better give us some badass looking evolved starters! the customer is always right after all!

Interesting responses. I have to say that I don't really agree with Josh, quite a bit. As the ones actually playing the game we definitely -should- criticize it. How would it get better at all if we didn't? And can you really be a fan of something if you don't like it anymore? but I digress, the game is still 'good' and, while it could be 'better' , it's still gonna be well received and liked.

Thinking about it a little more, I honestly am not all -that- incensed over the looks of the starters. Actually the green one has grown on me, even though he -is- sort of a Treecko clone. The pig's okay too. I just can't get over the blue fella, I guess. XP

I bought the Japaneese version of the game for the DS.
It is really fun, I especially like how the sprites have extra animations for statuses (they'll have their eyes closed if they're asleep etc.)
