What is your favorite Pokemon movies?
What's Your Favorite Pokemon Movie?
I'm just curious what movies are most popular among Pokemon fans, and even non-fans. You always hear about how people sometimes say "It's the best Pokemon movie ever!", but that is always biased. So, I decided to make a topic were we can vote for our favorite movie(s), and tell the world why we like them, if you want.
Just a few rules before we start:
Ok, so I'll start first! What's my favorite Pokemon movie? Well, it the 8th one! You
know, the one where Lucario made his official debut! I also think this is the
one that popularized Lucario, but I’m not sure if there could be other reasons
for this too. Anyways, why do I like Lucario and the Mystery of Mew so much?
Well, to be honest, Lucario was the first Pokemon that was my favourite! In
fact, it was Lucario that actually got me into Pokemon! Sure, I watched little
parts of the very first season on TV, but I still wasn’t into it. I never played
the games, and I was actually quite critical to them, especially when someone
was showing me how to play them, I thought they were pointless!
But then, I saw Destiny Deoxys. I kinda liked it, but still not enough to like Pokemon.
Then came Lucario and the Mystery of Mew, and I instantly fell in love with
Lucario from the shots of him in the commercial YTV made, when they were going
to air it in Canada on a Saturday night. So, I watched it, and I loved it!
Lucario was then the Pokemon that egged me into liking Pokemon, and I started
to look into the games and such. I didn’t watch the show much, until recently
(ever since I joined this forum, I’ve become a little more Pokemon crazed! XD),
and I’m into the games even more now, although it sucks that I can’t play any,
due to a lack of a Gameboy, or DS.
So, why do I like Lucario so much? Well, I’ve always liked almost all member of the Canine
family, but my favourite animal is the wolf. I know Lucario isn’t a wolf (he’s a
jackal), but he is a Canine Pokemon. So...yeah. Has anyone ever noticed how all
my characters are, or look like they are from the Canine family? Anyways, I
just think the movie is great! The plot is wonderful, in my mind, and one of my
favourite Pokemon is the star of the movie! Plus, I loved the fact Lucario
could talk! I love characters that can talk! However, there are a few things I
didn’t like about the movie...
Like the show, the movies (at least in the English dubs) suffer from poor voice acting;
however, I do find it had better voice acting than the show. Plus, it was only
a few parts that sounded wrong, like there wasn’t enough emotion, or the wrong
emotion was used. But if you ignore that fact, it had overall good voice
acting, and emotion. The second thing I didn’t like was the time flowers. A
little lazy plot device to use, isn’t it? The idea to me is a bit odd, and too
convenient. I wish they had thought of some more intelligent way. Why not just
have the classic flashbacks, or something a little more thought out? Anyways,
on to my third, and last thing I didn’t like about the movie. First of all, I
love aura! But I’m not a fan of magical chants, and such. So for them to have
to say “Aura is with me” a few times, kinda make me growl a bit. Is it really necessary?
Does Pikachu, or any of the other Pokemon have to say a chant to use special
abilities? If they don’t, then why does there have to be on for aura?
But when it comes down to the bottom line, Lucario and the Mystery of Mew, the 8th
Pokemon movie...is my favourite Pokemon movie of all times! I had to buy the
DVD, which I got a dew mouths ago, and now I’m watching it again! Now, I only
wish they would make a movie for Riolu...
PS-I’m looking forward to the 13th Pokemon movie. You know, the one with
Zoura and Zourak in it! I saw the Japanese trailer for it, and I can’t wait to
see it!
Just a few rules before we start:
- If anyone post reasons why they like liked a movie, don't reply to them telling their views are wrong! This are not reviews on the movie (you can if you want, but this rule still applies), but rather, reason why they liked the movie so much. Translation: Why they personally liked the movie, based on their preferences and so on. So please be respectful of others, and please don't debate to people.
- If you are going to make a review of a movie, because that's the way you are, please try and be as respectful as possible! Plus, if you are reading it, and find mistakes, or biased points: it'd be best just to leave it alone. We all makes mistakes, so lets not get into a fight over viewpoints, and such.

Re: What's Your Favorite Pokemon Movie?
I'm gonna sound like I'm saying exactly what I hate hearing from reverent fanboys of the PS3 and 360, here, but... I really, really like the visuals on the newer videos. Destiny Deoxys, Mystery of Mew, Sky Warrior, Rise of Darkrai and Jewel of Life have absolutely amazing effects. I'm probably forgetting at least one, but I adore the appearance of everything after around Destiny Deoxys and Heroes, to put it simply.
However, as for my favorite... the one with Manaphy. The underwater scenes were pretty much awesome, as I mentioned it's beyond the threshold where the appearance of the film really starts impressing me, and... the pirate guy was hilarious just because of how utterly repetitive his lines got. He didn't even need the Chatot to repeat him he could reiterate himself so well, and he was just so absolutely corny.
NOTE: I almost had to pick 2000 as my favorite. For the flute song. JUST for the flute song. Well, it's not so much a flute, as it is a shell-ocarina type thing, but... yeah, the song. I love that song, it's so... serene.

Re: What's Your Favorite Pokemon Movie?
hmm... my fav definitely has to be heroes. why? latias... she's so cute in the movie! its kind of obvious that she gets a crush on Ash (he's an idiot though...) the eon cries have to be the most soothing and chilling sound I've ever heard... not to mention it has one of the coolest songs from all the movies, Search for the Girl. it's ties up there with Lugia's Song...
the other two that come close second are Destiny Deoxys, and the Movie 2000.

I agree with Zephy, though Destiny Deoxys rank just a rank above Heroes.
I would say
1) Destiny Deoxys
2) Heroes
3) Pokemon Move 2000
4) Rise of Darkrai
5)Giratina and the Sky Warrior {Im sorry but this was cool!}
My top 5, but most of them are good.

I thought 4kids only made english voice overs and certain censors... I guess it was either ban the movie in the americas (like they did with the tauros episode), or let the movie slide for lots of moolah...

First and second movies. As much as I love the Latis, I can't like the Heroes movie. Unfortunately, Pokemon was the only thing 4Kids did right. >n<

Heh... I'm just gonna post something stupid and inane, regarding the statistics from the vote thus far.
Not to offend any member of either fandom, but... am I the only person who finds it hilarious that the top two movies, according to this vote, are the one with Mewtwo and the one with Lucario?
Well... regardless, I'm just going to list my top five favorite things in any Pokemon movie.
1. That pirate from Temple of the Sea. There's two kinds of people in the world: the ones who quote, and the ones who get quoted~
2. That song from Pokemon 2000.
3. The underwater visuals from Temple of the Sea. Gorgeous.
4.
This side of paradise~ It's where I want to be~
5. The Distortion World on the one with Giratina. It's almost as trippy as it is in the game!

*chuckles* I pretty much loved all of the movies, but when put into a line-up, the 3rd movie is my least favorite, but I still love it. My all-time favorites are Heroes, 2000, Destiny Deoxys, and 4Ever. The recent ones I very much enjoyed very much, especially since the last three, (Darkrai to Arceus) are connected, which is confirmed in the credits of Jewel of Life. ^._.^ I don't like the show....but I did enjoy Mystery Dungeon and that one show with the guy who had a Typhlosion...but I can't remember the name of that one...still, it was good though. ^._.^

That. That's one of my favorite elements. The Legend Comes To Life is a wonderful track. <3
Pokemon 4Ever was also really good. But I'm not as much a fan of the movies as I am of the idea of the world and the games themselves. ^^

Hello, Hello, Hello! I like arceus and the jewel of life. Arceus is suppose to be a male in one of the pokemon mystery dungeon games, since it has a male voice, it should be a male in the other 3D games. Watch the movie, and you'll see what i mean.

Pokemon 2000. I really like Lugia's song and I think the movies have kind of gone down hill after Heroes, like the anime in general. The visuals are nice in the new ones but I don't really care about visuals and the old ones had really good visuals as well. The computer generated stuff looks really odd to me.

Re: What's Your Favorite Pokemon Movie?
I just personally feel like the first movie had the most solid plot, and was very ballsy on 4kids part to make it as dark as it was. Not saying a lot of the other movies weren't sharp and brave enough to include some very adult like aspects of life, but the first movie seemed to execute it the best. I really hate to admit it, but I don't like Ash much, and seeing him double blasted sent a tingle up my spine. >.>

It'd definitely have to be the first for me. I remember going to see it when I was but a wee little lad (OK, more of a little lad) and it was pretty much that which brought me to love Pokemon. While the others are good (particularly 2000, I mean, who doesn't love that beautiful tune? As well as the 8th, I mean, who doesn't like that beautiful Lucario?) the first will always be my favourite.

Re: What's Your Favorite Pokemon Movie?
the arceus movie? I actually found that one quite funny because of arceus's voice. it seened too human and nasally to be a voice of a god... at least for one that created the entire universe. I also found the fact that it connected the last two rather interesting, but hat's it.
I guess the thing that annoyed me most from that movie was how they handled the time alterations. it was like "we're back to the future! that means everything's changed right? *still fighting* OMG! *arceus does a matrix* olol this never happened! byebye!"

I think they did that mainly to have a specific "Everything's back to normal and everyone's happy" *music plays* part that's in every movie.
