RP To Video Game Connections
Alright, so I kind of figured all this out about my characters/Pokémon and wondered if anyone else shared this? It should be noted that all of the Pokémon below have actual handheld game counterparts.
I realized some time ago that my main party Pokémon, all of which I use as Characters on this very forum, kind of personify my Pokémonic career, as it were. For example, Discharge, My elder Raichu.
Discharge the Raichu is usually, and meant to be, seen as the OLDEST Pokémon on my team. This is meant to reflect his advanced age (Being 35 instead of a teen ager like the rest of my Pokémon) but it’s also meant to reflect that he is my Starter. Discharge is the personification of my start in Pokémon with Pokémon: Yellow version, basically being the special Pikachu who’s traveled with me since I started out and has grown up and evolved into the serious and reliable Pokémon his is today.
Now, the next version I played after Yellow was gold…but I don’t have a Pokémon to represent that at the moment, so I’ll just skip it ^^;
Next is Sapphire, and my Brelloom, Spore. Spore is my oldest Female Pokémon, and represents my first play through Pokémon: Sapphire version. I don’t use Spore as often as say Canno or Cheeko, a trait she shares with her game counterpart, and this is mostly to reflect how Ruby and Sapphire are mostly looked down upon, though personally, the generation III games were my favorite. Spore’s medical practice and forceful healing techniques are inspired by the anime character Dr. Kureha from One Piece.
As I said before, Generation III is my favorite, so I’ve played my only gen III game, Sapphire game several times…Enter Cheeko. Cheeko the Treecko was my starter from my latest play and inspired my latest Pokémon goal, a level 100 Treecko, which I just achieved a few days ago. On the HPF, Cheeko’s cute perkiness, and his nearly constant use in RPs represents my love of Hoenn and Treeckos ^^.
Speaking of cute and perky, here we have Seasnake the Gyarados. Gyarados are normally seen as mean, scary, and…atrocious Pokémon. But Seasnake isn’t any of those things; in fact, she’s the biggest sweetheart on my team and wouldn’t hurt a fly without having to. She represents the seemingly soft spoken Leafgreen version and is used more as a HM user (Not HM slave, I hate that term!) using Surf, Waterfall, and Rock smash, but her flying type beating Ice beam makes her a very important member of my fighting type heavy team.
Hunter the Marowak, easily my strongest Pokémon and capture partner, I got Hunter when I was barrowing my friends Firered version for a few days, traded it to Leafgreen and have been using him ever since. Hunter’s strong silent loner kind of attitude stems from him feeling like an outside, not coming from one of my games, but this is also why he seems to connect to Ace so much, since he didn’t really come from a game either. There connection is also similar to that of the anime characters Honey and Mori from Ouran High school host club.
Now we take a break from my main party Pokémon to take a look at a character of a madder sort. Tai’s brother Hatter is based on the Hitmontop that was a main staple of my party in Pokémon Coliseum. His character is, obviously, based on the Mad hatter from Alice in wonderland, and is many quarks (Spinning on his tail instead of his head so as not to crush his hat, always starting conversations by asking “Why is a Murkrow like a writing desk”) represents this.
As one game fallowed the other, the Hitmon brothers fallow one after the other both in age and in game. While Hatter comes from Coliseum, Tai the Hitmonlee comes from Pokémon XD: gale of darkness and has been in my main team roster since. His serious nature and affinity for training alone come from him usually being left behind in the back of my party and used to back up my other, more diverse fighters. But, despite my use of him, Tai is actually a very strong and reliable Pokémon, and I play him as such.
And now my most used Pokémon, on and off the handheld, Canno the Infernape. Canno is my starter from Pokémon: Diamond version and has been a fierce fighting force since. His feud with Spore could be because of him taking the place as the fire type of my party from her friend Flocker the Blaziken, who was my starter from Sapphire, and was raised with her on my first journey through Hoenn. Canno also personifies my bottled up lust, being in the closet and getting very little sex, that is why Canno is described as “willing to have sex with anything that has a cock and a pulse”.
Unlike previous generations, I played more than one Sinnoh game; having played both Diamond and Platinum. I didn’t actually add a Pokémon from Platinum to my main party roster, but my sons Ace and Jason’s Pokémon selves could take inspiration from the game’s main legendary and mascot, Giratina (Ace is a Phampy but is half Giratina and Jason is a full Giratina but has some powers and moves of a Donphan.)
And finally, my latest incarnation, Aaron the Donphan. My Donphan self was inspired by a Donphan kick I was on awhile ago when it became my favorite Pokémon. I actually made this character before I got my most current game, Pokémon: Heartgold, but I made sure to catch a strong Donphan as soon as possible, and I’m still working on leveling him up to the point of my other party Pokémon, but he will reach them soon enough.
So there you have it, my Pokémon and how they connect to my video game playing. I’d love to hear you questions and comments, or your own experiences, so go ahead and post below and I’ll answer you in the order you post in ^^

Re: RP To Video Game Connections
Sometimes one, sometimes the other, sometimes both.
The majority of my pokémon characters are based on me catching one in game then suddenly finding out that they're great pokémon.
Some I had an idea for then ether caught of pokésaved him/her into the game.
However usually I caught one in game, invent a character around the species (but not around their performance in-game) then edit them to be more like the character.
I have an almost full list here. But I've got some more now that HeartGold has come out.

Well, my first Eevee was named Dia and evolved into a Vaporeon...but other than that, I've remained relatively RP attached. I am looking forward to Black/White though. o.o
