August Report: Updates

Heya there! Before I get this update underway, I first want to apologize for not having been keeping people in the loop most of this month. There's quite a bit that has been going on, and you guys have deserved a heads-up long before now; thus, I will try to be much more diligent from now on in keeping EVERYONE informed, and not just those that visit the chatbox. That said, I'll try to make this quick.

To start, I imagine that most of you have probably noticed we've done a rather major overhaul of staff over the course of this month. For starters, I am now acting as head admin of HPF in place of Charem, who had sadly decided to resign his position a couple weeks ago. In addition, RedMage89 lost his position due to inactivity, along with Phoenix Ninetales and Laticune. All have been replaced, and our current line-up now stands as follows:

All these names are selectable here as well as on the front page, so keep all this in mind. In addition, you may notice that we have a slot open for the Random Forum Games area. While that section doesn't usually need a lot of moderation, I wouldn't mind a bit of help there, so feel free to send me a PM if you're interested. That goes for any current moderators as well.

Next up, you may have noticed as per staff changes that our contest section has now been revitalized! Go check out our newest contest here: #3, in the form of a DS tournament! Galen I'd really like to try hard to revitalize these every month, and I think with the new format that will be established, we should have little trouble doing so. Make sure to read the newly updated Contest Rules first before applying!

Onward to some general configuration changes: First of all, I've upped the signature limit from 500 characters to 1000 characters. This will change only if the feature is abused, so sig responsibly guys. Second, Forumotion has now provided us with a password strength indicator, so check your password accordingly if you so desire. And last but not least, I've decided after some deliberation that users shall no longer be able to modify their usernames or delete their own accounts. If you want to change your name, you'll need to contact a member of staff. This is to help prevent confusion that has been occurring recently as well as halt the spread of the accursed "Guest" label in the other forums, something that gives off two false impressions: 1. We don't check our forum for underage members, and 2. You don't have to be logged in to post here. Sorry if this creates an issue for anyone, but I really want to get this place back in shape and running smoothly.

That should take care of most everything, though I'm sure I left something out. As always, feel free to PM me with any questions or comments you have. I will listen to anything you have to say and continue to work towards trying to make this place just as awesome as I thought it has been when Charem first drafted the forums two years ago.
