*sighs* It so disgusts me to see most people's favorites being fully-evolved or really ugly-but-powerful ones. I'm glad I'm not like that; I'm glad I always choose the cute or nice-looking ones instead. Those who choose ones just for power are idiots, in my eyes. But, to each his own; it doesn't matter to me. I have my opinions. So, which ones are my favorites...that's quite obvious:

All-in-all, the fifth generation I'd say is a success. While I don't really find most of them cute or appealing, they ARE cool and interesting and new. Say what you want about them being "bottom of the pile" or "pathetic" or "unoriginal" or whatever, but they're fine. I can't wait until we get this game sometime in spring of next year; my guess is in March or April.

Overall I think it's a neat bunch. The only thing I'm really dissatisfied with is how they again used a fire/fighting for the fire-type starter. I still haven't gotten over infernape because of how much it pretty much snuffs out blaziken in terms of useability. But that's just a personal opinion because I love blaziken, and hate infernape, and I use blaziken anyway. Regardless though, it would be nice to see something a bit different. If nothing else, they should at least try to be original with the starter types, especially since those always have approximately the same base stat totals.

Anyway, other than that (and the fact that there's now ANOTHER pikachu knockoff, not to say I don't like pikachu), I'd say the new list is a success. Like always though, there are some I love, some I hate, and some I feel so-so about. Still, it's too early to judge them accurately, since I always judge how I feel about pokemon more on their traits as described in the pokedex, over how they look. I only really use looks to judge how much I like a pokemon when I first see them, before I learn more about them. Heck, I originally hated umbreon, but now it's my favorite pokemon.

Seeing as I can't see the images right now, I'll go with the ones that look like they'll be really useful by their types/learnable moves. =D

1st: I'm going to have to say the water starter, Mijumaru, is probably going to be the starter I choose (saw all 3 starters, and even though it says Pokabu gets a dual-type, which is what I like to go for, Mijumaru seems to cover its bases pretty well. A bug attack early on, plenty of good water moves, even a fighting-type move for the pesky metal or 2 (can't see 2 of its moves, but my point still stands)) Not to mention the fact that it arguably has the best looking evo/s of the 3.

2nd: Kirikizan and what it evolves from. Metal/Dark. Not much else is needed. 2 types are eliminated (psychic and poison), and the extra weakness to fighting is offset by 2 more types only doing 1/4 damage.

3rd: Koromori and Kokorumori. Psychic/Flying. I heard that these bats were taking over zubat and golbat's jobs, and by the looks of it, they might do a really good job. dark-type move learned early on = ghost crusher. Flying moves make bug types (psychic's enemies) lunchmeat. They're really fast, and get psychic (!) at level 41.

4th: Shubarugo (One of the few where I don't include pre-evo). Bug/steel. Again, not much is needed for explaination. 1 uber-weakness (x4) in fire, and no other weaknesses. It has a lot of decrease damage though, which is really nice. It also has good defences and a few good attacks.

5th: Zuruggo and Zuruzukin. Dark/fighting. I can go on again about all the stuff that cancels out, but what overshadows that is that it naturally learns a move that can probably take out its ONE weakness in a hit or 2...at level 53. The only dual-type I'd value more than this one (if one was ever made) would be ghost/steel.

6th: The Shanderaa line. Ghost/Fire. Only one I like that has quite a few weaknesses. High Sp Atk, a bit of a variety in skills, and a fun little skill called pain split, which combines yours and your enemy's hp and splits it between them.


When I can see the pictures for them again, I'll give you an idea of which ones I think look the best.

It seems that Nintendo has pulled an internet-wide image takedown of all images pertaining to Pokémon Black and White due to it being "copyright material". This has affected Pokébeach (which now humorously has redesigned itself to be Pokérbeach, same site just without the substance =P), Serebii, FA, and other sites. The email was sent out Saturday and its implementation occurred on Sunday and Monday.

Apparently, Nintendo doesn't like free advertising. Go figure.

The only one I like currently is the Eagle one Woguru or Wuguru. I cannot find it in Serebii's new pokemon list, and it doesn't help that the pics of them aren't working. i just like it because it looks really cute and huggable :3

No, those two sites were targeted because they were using an illegally downloaded ROM to take screenshots, and admitted as such, and Pokebeach even linked to a ROM download for a short time.

In a month hi-res Sugimori artwork of all of them will probably be available everywhere anyway, so I dunno why people are flipping out other than the usual "Nintendo is screwing us again" mob mentality.

Hmm...If I went by looks, there would actually be quite a little handful of them. Most of these I could even justify putting in my team at some point.

Zorua/Zoroark (although their ability alone might be enough to get them, if I interpreted it correctly.)
Chillarmy/Chirachiino (cute, but no good flying/psychic moves, tm or otherwise, to take out fighting.)
Rankurusu (looks nice, learns rollout early and can learn ghost, dark, and fighting moves via tms, so choose your favorites, and destroy stuff)
Shikijika (evolves and looks less great, but gets stronger. Learns double kick early, taking out ice, but that's about it.)
Bachuru (fuzzy. =D Seriously? Hmm...takes out one of its 2 weaknesses if you teach it energy ball tm, and the other weakness is fire. >.>)

Kibago (I have a feeling his final is gonna land on uber territory for some reason. =D *Looks up 3rd evo* I was probably right. learns double chop (probably a fighting-type move) on its own, and learns plenty more fighting-type moves through tms. Its Atk by then is nothing to cough at, either.)
Kumashun (Can learn aerial ace, rock smash, and surf. look up its type and say ow. Only downside seems to be average stats.)
Kojondo (As with a few others I mentioned, this one can learn moves to stop its weaknesses from stomping on it too much. Problem is not much Sp Atk or Sp Def. balances with decent Atk, Def, and speed.)
Aianto (not cute, but looks awesome and is another bug/steel. =D Oh, did I mention it naturally learns dig?)
Meloia (nice look, type cancels ghost moves, close combat cancels dark, can use tm to get stone edge. yay!)

Just going by looks I'd have to say I like Zeburaika, Warubiru, Warubiaru and Zoroark.

this is a good site to check the gen 5 pokes. its got clean sprites (all of them, including front, back, and shiny) and basic pokemon info like size and weight.

I'm still undecided as to 5th gen. It'll probably be like 4th gen, where I can't figure out my favorites till around 6 months after the game comes out.

Of course, I'm mostly hoping they make a new Mystery Dungeon a year or so after we get Black/White so that all the "serious" storyline legendaries become silly bosses. Mostly because thanks to that game, most of the pokemon from 1st-4th gen are now perminantly connected to really creepy, or funny dialog lines. All my Wishcash in every game are always named "IWasSmall" now.

as far as the ffth gen pokemon go, sandile's line, archeos' line and snivy's lines are my favorite so far, and also the ice dragon too.
