ATTN: HPF may be shut down

Well guys, it's been long coming, and one of us should have had a backup plan for this long before now, but here we are, caught unawares. Forumotion seems to have finally decided to honor their ToS and come after us for having adult content blatantly displayed on our forums despite all the warnings and measures I've put out to inform underage users NOT to be viewing our material. I'm not proud of the fact that I've allowed this to happen and have been fighting for quite some time to prevent; however, seeing as I am not able to access the database as Forumotion is in control of backups and not myself, all I can do now is have HPF start from scratch, as I adamantly refuse to strip the website of adult content as requested. I feel that would go against the purpose we had in making HPF in the first place, after all.

That said, I've created this refuge here: HPF ForumUp. It's phpbb2 (soon to be upgraded presumably) and thus a significant downgrade, but it's what we have until I can purchase the server space to remove all the ads and add a new chatbox below and features above the forum, something I fully intend to do as soon as I can tomorrow. You will have noticed the ads and garish look. That will be fixed. I will be replacing as much as I can with HPF-friendly apparel that I have saved from the old forum once I am able to recover somewhat; I have literally spent the night working on this and may be looking at a few more sleepless ones for reasons. Charem saved EVERY image on the forum (including WebComics and other HTML), and we will be integrating it into this site eventually; once it's confirmed that Forumotion shuts us down, I will see if I can purchase the domain anew under ForumUp. It's the very least I can do. I will not lie; I don't like this place, but I'm willing to call it home for now. To start from scratch is better than having nothing.

The chatbox will be replaced with this emergency backup, Chatzy HPF Box, Password: omnomnom, until we have an AJAX client installed, which WILL be an upgrade from what we had before. I will pay whatever it takes to make sure of that. While that will not replace what stands to be lost, what is important right now is that in the short amount of notice we have that you take steps to export any material you wish to save over to the new site as swiftly as possible. Do not panic. I would recommend saving your posts in Notepad to start, especially if you have a story, character sheet, or artwork thread. The new forum will require you to sign up for a usergroup in order to view private content, something for which I've already made accommodations. We are covered under the ToS for ForumUp, which allows adult/sex forums when listed Private, something I explicitly made sure would be all right. We will not have the same problem with this service; the cost for this is quality, but I will work to make that up.

For everything that you stand to lose--post count, EXP, topics, memories--I have no apology great enough. You have every right to be upset, to yell, to lash out at me for not giving adequate enough warning. I deserve it wholeheartedly, though I believe that none of you are as pissed off about this situation as I am, and none of you regret this more than I do. No words I have right now can do justice to how I feel. For my failure, I am in your debt, and all I can do from this point is make it up to each and every one of you as best I can. Tell me what I need to do. If there's anything you can offer in terms of help, I am willing to listen, and I will answer every question you have as soon as I am possibly able. As I said before, I will be purchasing more server space this week to try and make this place more inhabitable.

Save what you feel is most important, and understand that Hungry Pokémon is not dead, not while I'm here. I've said this in the past, and despite how disheartened and crushed I am about all this, I will continue to prove that I care about the idea Charem created three years ago as much as I cared when he created HPF, and I have Charem and many staff members here to thank for their past assistance, more than I can express. I can't do this alone, though. My life is still a very busy one at the university and at home, so please bear with me. I'm not a web or forum guru but simply a student of music and language, as well as a vore enthusiast and game lover. This is the best I can do for now, and I am only sorry I am not capable of more.

I'll continue to update HPF on ForumUp as more developments come by. For now, I need to get a few hours of sleep. Charem will also be available today for a bit in the original chatbox if you need to speak with him. Keep in touch.

how horrible . . . it's not your fault, Guan. some people just don't get the meaning of adult content. maybe you should find a way, though, to set up warnings for all the members who can't get on that often, so when they try to find HPF again, they won't end up thinking it's shut down? either way, I'm happy HPF won't be completely gone, even if we have to start almost completely over . . .

I've sent an E-mail as well as a crawl and notice in the warning. With luck, everyone on HPF will have been notified by this time. Here's hoping the notice wasn't cut too short for too many.

How sad :'( I still feel new yet I'd hate for all these memoires to go, guess I could save some posts, but then it wouldn't be fun. No, I shall start again with new topics and shall carry on my other ones like normal till the site is gone.

And it's not too bad. We've all got a place to go.
This way everything gets to re-start. The HPF is the best and will remain the best no matter where it goes.

It'll be a bit of an inconvenience to transfer the stuff over (the last posts in every (active) thread should be enough), but if everyone helps the job'll be done in no-time.

Not to sound rude but I can be bothered to copy and paste everything into my drive, its not that I don't care I just think this site was meant for us to have fun, anyone on my rp's can copy it all and post it all again if they wish but I'm not going to bother really, just make some new ones with them much better then my older and crappier ones. I will be able to enjoy it still!

Only thing im saving is my charrie sheets.

I am one of the many users to HPF and I have read many great stories( SinisterUmbreon and Bloodamon, I LOVE you stories!!! <3 )Well I mean come on! If a website says'' This site contains adult materal'' It almost all the time does. I understand some people can't stand this stuff, but come on!!! Shuting the WHOLE site down?!?!?!? What I am mainly trying to say is that many people love HPF as much as I do, and it will be missed. A LOT!

I honestly saw something like this coming, to be honest. People are just haters and don't care about some people's wants. Eh, it's fine by me; no reason to get worked up over spilled milk. At least it's not goodbye for real and it's not life or death. Like the holy songs says: "Though the sorrow may last through the night, the joy comes in the morning". So, see you all on the new place. I've already saved all the role-plays I enjoyed most...even though the jerks who were doing them with me left and never came back!

Yeah, I had the same problem until I joined a usergroup. It took some time for it approve of my joining the usergroup though.

Sorry for the wait guys; I can't be on 24/7 like I'd wish, seeing as I don't have my own laptop for such a convenience. I've approved everyone who applied for a usergroup just now, as well as activated those that haven't received E-mails. If I've missed you, please use the Account Problems forum; it's the only way that I'll know you haven't been approved. I know it's convenient, but it's temporary. Have faith that I'm not going to leave in you the dark, guys.

Don't forget you can also appeal to Rain and Galen; they are also capable of giving you access to the forums through the Usergroups.

Okay, finally on. Thank you. Now to wait to be approved for the usergroup before I start posting.

Never give up, never give in, and never lose your way. We will always hold this site close to our hearts, and never forget it, or the work the Admins and Mods did to make it what it was. We will miss you HPF, good-bye, and rest in peace.

Nice post. I'm sure we'll all miss the site, but at least it's been replaced. Granted the new site doesn't feel quite the same because of the different look, but oh well.
