more rooms in chat

I was wondering if its possible to add some more rooms to the chat cause if thair alot in 1 room it can get abit confusing and some might want some where more private

would actually be a good idea yeah, you see those allot with other chatrooms. and to only have one room...

or how about making it posable for private coversations?

That's just the thing...this forum provider gives us that chatroom, but it's laughably simple...all I can do is set it to the top or bottom of the page, and turn it on/off. Sorry guys.

If somebody could find a good (free) chatroom that I could imbed with HTML into the site, though, I might consider that.

how about using IRC? i don't really know if it is free, but it sertainly works

I know that Eka's uses Voodoo chat. I'm not sure if it's possible to embed in a forum though. I'll play around with it on my test board some, and see if it's doable.

edit: Scratch that. There are actually two chat systems I found called Voodoo. And I didn't have any luck with either. One requires a specific client, no embedding, and the other needs to be uploaded to the server.

I found an article about free embeddable chat rooms. I think it`s worth looking into.

Forgive me for bumping, but I like the chatbox we already got.
By default, forumotion chatbox's are user friendly and seem to be the only kind of chatbox that works for my itouch as I have no computer.

External chatboxes tend to require high flash or that javascript crap.
This one is just fine, so hopefully, we don't lose this one.

While I still am researching other options, I also enjoy the simplicity and accessibility of our current chatroom and will not remove it. =P No worries.

maybe we can have the forum chat as a general area, for the usual vore and chat and stuff, and then have the other chatbox system for more private or dirtier RP's. there are some who dont like to use MSN or YIM as much for RP's...

I think the chat box is good enough, we dont really need more rooms and if Charem and the majority were dead set on wanting more rooms for the chat, then maybe just 1 extra room. That way theres a room for chatting and a room for RPs.

Though the thought of having a lot of rooms seems to be a bad idea in my oppinion, reason I think that would be bad is because that means that people would just stick with their group of friends in a certian box. Basically every group claiming their own and the ones who are usually quiet or doesnt interact as much as anyone else would be ignore/ most likely not wanted in that box,dont think you would enjoy someone randomly coming in on your RP with a friend.

Basically just saying if there were a lot of rooms, people would be left out and be ignored since they wouldnt be a part of what ever group was using that box.

So if you want a private RP, dont see what the trouble is by just using IMs or PMs (I use both occassionally )

It's a good point Al, but handing out IM info isn't always a good idea. And you wouldn't need a bunch of rooms, just one extra MAYBE two, just to stem the flood of people that happens from time to time.

Oh and the reason I think of why handing out IM infor is mainly because you don't always -really- know the person you give it too. Yeah most of the time people are cool and the rp's work out fine but (unfortunatly) eventualy you get that one who's, oh what's the right word.....I guess you could say something like there bug you a lot or constantly take it somewhere you don't want it to go.

I know I'm kinda ranting, I wasn't trying to it just sorta came out that way, but I dunno..I don't think one more room could hurt.

Hehe, no worries Lucian, I understand what you're saying. Though that leaves PMs or a topic marked "private", though the second sorta defeats the purpose of a "private RP" since others can still see it. But then agian, depends on what you would define private. Either way, no one would intrude onto your RP, also thats a reason why I don't have my IM's in my profile heh.

And thats what I said in my earlier post, Lu. I said One extra, meaning there would be a total of two rooms =P

Oh! As a point for multiple chatrooms, incase the normal one ever goes down for whatever reason (Individually or site wide) We have a backup chat that people can use!
