Should We Allow Yiffy Avatars? Opinions Wanted!

So, the thing is, I've always been semi-annoyed by the fact that adult avatars are generally never allowed on forums. Even adult ones.

The reasoning is usually that it would offend some people...but on heavily-adult forums, such as this one, I really think 'getting offended' is silly. If we're this embedded into adult things, something that's 'not our preference' shouldn't bother us that much, and we should be able to be mature and ignore such.

But then, it also raises the question of what boundaries, if any, should be set. If somebody likes hard vore, should they be allowed to have an avatar featuring hard vore? Scat? Watersports? Is it fair to restrict the most 'extreme' things (notably things featuring blood, feces, and urine)?

My personal opinions would be to do what I just said...allow any sort of avatar *unless* it involves blood, scat, or watersports. It seems fair to me...

Hm... I agree. The only thing is, it's a bit harder to ignore avatar images than images in a gallery, or any questionable text content. Y'know, since an avatar is pasted all over the place; i.e. whenever you post.

But, meh. If you can overlook text you don't like, you should be able to overlook images as well. That's my two cents, anyway.

Further investigation has proven that there is no option under the forum's settings to allow a member to select 'Don't show other users' avatars.' It's been a heavily-suggested idea on our provider's forums though, so it's possible this could be implemented in the future.

The lack of this option does squelch my idea a bit though...

Personally, I don't care one bit for yiffing. Nothing personal against those who do; it's just a major turn-off for me.

I'm with you Charem. While I wont diss those that like the scat and such, I certainly wouldn't care for an avatar of them. Everything else though is a go. Though I'm neutral to yiffing myself. And thus cant really put forth much of an opinion of it.

So I vote all but the extremes. But perhaps allowing the extremes to be posted in the profile, if they haven't done so already, can be worked out.

I dont reccommend it, because while restricted forums cannot be viewed by non-registered users, avatar view cannot be restricted like that i think (i know its possible on vBulletin and IPB, but phpBB?), and yeah, while the vultures of forumotion can be kept away with forum restrictions, seeing the avatars will most probably make them go wtf.

You get my point i hope, allowing adult avatars, in combination with guest viewing of avatars = baaaaad ideea.
Not to mention the fact that other people who randomly finds this site on google, or parrents who checks their childrens browser history, might also report us if they notice "yiffalicious" avatars everywhere =/

Point taken. As much fun as it would be, we'll have to restrict having avatars featuring yiffy things. Only clean and clean soft vore avatars will be allowed.

aww... that sucks, I wanted to use a yiffy avatar too since most the other gallery sites don't allow it... I'm pretty sure theblacklabyrinth allows yiffy avatars though... and besides there are alot of "yiffy" sites that you can access yiffy stuff without any registration or any filtering to prevent unwanted viewers like: Yiffstar, Fchan, and even AGNPH. So what is the harm in a simple avatar on an "ADULT" oriented website? Actually I think if you just put an opening page that states "this has adult themed content" as a warning like most other sites, nothing bad can come of it.

Roco, what you've missed is that we can't be openly adult on this forum provider. In fact, having the adult warning we do on the main forum page is a risk for us!

Hmm... I'll have to draw that to Charem's attention. But regardless, this matter has been resolved.

well we are vorish and kind of yiffy as well, so i think those 2 should be alowed in the avatars as well. though i can understand why only vore is preafered the most here.
about scat and things... ummm not sure.
